This classic scene from 2001: A Space Oddity inspired me to the idea of creating a horror film. A short scary movie was something I hadn't thought about at all but then while watching this movie I began to wonder about how making a horror film might be the best way to combine everything I have wanted to do for this class. I want to create both the film and score to reflect simulations of fear. The idea so far is that a scientist has created artificial life to protect him but it has decided the best way to protect the scientist is to hold him captive and shield him from the world.
I love the idea of playing with claustrophobia and creating sounds/music that coincide with that feeling. I would suggest trying to downplay the science-fiction aspect and try to work within a familiar environment one wouldn't expect to be potentially life-threatening. Still suggest checking out "Dark Star" to see how that parallels with "2001: A Space Odyssey."
I'm very excited to see what you do with this! I think telling stories is an underused way to deliver a message, especially with such short-term assignments like this, but it can be so effective! Once again I can recommend you some comics that could relate to this (I'm a one-trick pony haha), esp. thinking of pacing, framing, cinematography-type stuff etc.
